Ulrich Plenzdorf (26.10.1934-9.8.2007), screenwriter, author: Ulrich Plenzdorf is one of the most successful and best-known writers and screenwriters of the GDR. Despite and because of his socially critical plays, he is one of the most frequently performed playwrights, also attracting attention in the western part of the country. In the mid-1960s, he began to develop film material at DEFA and repeatedly took up realistic contemporary themes as well as problems of young people. With DIE LEGENDE VON PAUL UND PAULA (1972) he writes the screenplay for one of the most successful DEFA films.
