Lars Eidinger may not be a star in this country, but he is definitely one of Germany's most highly regarded, celebrated and respected theatre and film actors.
Born in Berlin in 1976, Eidinger has been an ensemble member of the Schaubühne Berlin since 1999, after receiving his acting training at the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch" Berlin from 1995 to 1999. In 2009, Maren Ade's grandiose relationship film "Alle anderen" also catapulted him into the cinematic top tier virtually overnight. For his roles in "TABU - Es ist die Seele ein Fremdes auf Erden" and "Was bleibt" he received the 2012 German Film Critics' Award for Best Leading Actor, and in 2014 the Grimme Award in the Best Actor category for his role in "Grenzgang". In 2019, together with Bjarne Mädel, he received both the Ernst Lubitsch Award and the Bavarian Film Award for "25 km/h".
